Halva: A Persian Vegan Dessert

Halva-A delicious Persian dessert


  • 250g Wheat flour
  • 200g Sugar
  • 224 Vegetable oil
  • 200g Water
  • 70g Rose water
  • 1 tablespoon Brewed saffron
  • A teaspoon of cardamom powder
  • Almond and pistachio flakes for garnish


In the first step, we have to prepare syrup for Halva: put a saucepan on high heat, then pour water into saucepan. Now, add sugar to water and stir it until sugar gets solved, then add cardamom powder and rose water to it and put the heat on the medium heat for 5 mines then add the brewed saffron to the syrup and let the syrup gets thick.

Step 2:

Put a frying pan on a low heat and pour vegetable oil into it and allow the oil to heat up over time.

Step 3:

While the oil is heating, put another pan on the heat and add the flour to it. At this stage, you should fry the flour well until its color changes. you have to stir the flour continuously so that it does not burn.

Step 4:

After the color of the flour changes, add the hot oil that you had on the heat to the flour and mix well. Now add gradually the hot syrup to the oil and flour and stir it completely well.
